Price of D-Link DSL-2640B modem with wireless?

Q. hi..
I am planning to buy an ADSL modem integrated with wireless router for my BSNL broadband connection. I found one modem in D-Link. Is there any other good one that works fine with BSNL. The one which they provide is worst coz I have changed it twice. Someone please let me know the price of DSL-2640B modem and also suggest me if any other modem is good.

A. D-link is not bad. You could go for Linksys WAG200G, it's got nice signal compared to DSL2640B.

However , I've used DSL2640 and it's router page is a little bugged. If you put symbols in password you would be unable to change the password unless you resetted it.

If you upgrade its firmware, the internet connection drops if you have too much connections to your system (like torrent, http server, game server querying, so on) for me, and I had to restart it. I had to downgrade the firmware, then it worked well.

If you have the Linksys WAG200G in your area, get that one. It's interface is nice, the signal is quite good. It's antenna cannot be changed though, not sure if this is a problem for you. From what I know, the antennas are maintenance free.

QUESTION ABOUT LINKSYS WAG200G ADSL MODEM?

Q. I have this adsl router and i guess u all know about the connecting and the dissconnecting problems and that it got somehow solved in the new version 1.01.06 which released late 2007
there r still some issues roaming around this unfortunate linksys modem that needs to be solved as well .
Here what i want to say : while i was surfing the net i found some new firmware version like 1.01.08 which is not officially found in cisco website i guess they r modified by some other experts so the question is : GUYS , Do u recommend me downloading these ones and if not do u have any idea when is the new firmware gonna release i mean 1.01.07 officially from the website
plz help me cos i got confused
I know i talked alot sorry

A. What you've discribed sounds like a Beta version that Linksys has yet to released. That being true and depending on where you found it. I personally would not trust it, obviously Linksys doesn't yet.

Good Luck

My internet sucks --?
Q. I just tested it on speedtest.net and my results is:

Download: 301 kb/s
Upload: 91 kb/s
Server: Doha
ISP: Qatar Telecom
Ping: 100ms
Distance: 50 ml

My router:
Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway
Model: WAG200G
(See below)

http://www-sk.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=SK%2FLayout&cid=1149562539904&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=3990445678B10

I'm on wireless, but close to my router. The router's firmware is upgraded to it's latest.

Oh and I heard that some people get around 12,000 kb/s speed! O_O

Help please? x__x

A. the solution to this slowness is reasonably clear
connect your computer to the router with an ethernet cable
change your ISP.

how to restore linksys firmware 1.00.09 ?

Q. I have Wireless router Linksys WAG200G

I bought it before 8 months the first firmware was 1.00.09

But yesterday I had played with some java scripts and update the router to firmware version 1.01.6

the router now is stupid disconnect from the internet every 5 mins

open n close ports

I reset the setting by pressing the red button n it restore factory default but the firmware still the new one

what should i do to restore everything to original ??

A. download it from the below link, then upload it to your router as you did yesterday....and becarefull next time.

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/opensourcecode/wag200g/1.00.09/WAG200G_1.00.09.tar.gz

Is it my router or ISP that is causing my internet to slow down?
Q. Our broadband has been very slow the last few days. I did a speed check today and the download speed was around 100kbps and the upload speed around 50kbps. A few weeks ago we had the same and i updated the firmware on the router (linksys WAG200G) and it worked like a charm. However now the internet is slow again and there are no later firmeware versions i can install. Is there a rule of thumb in finding out whether the problem is with my router or ISP.

And ive run virus checks etc on my computer and it didnt make a difference. It is also slow on the other laptop in the house (both connect wirelessly to the same modem-router).

A. First thing is viruses or browser temp files that have spam. You can also check disk space on your computer, maybe you are running low which causes the swap file to grind a bit more. Also try shutting everything off then starting it all up from the cable modem in towards your computer. Or get yourself a Linksys Wireless-N USB Network Adapter WUSB300N - network adapter for better performing connection, and if you get the N-router you are all set. You can also ask this question at http://www.desktopsupport.tv. Also, If you want to moderate your own discussion forum, just request it for free while you are there.
