Netgear Faq: Netgear Support Phone

Mark asks…

can somebody please help me set up my new wireless router?

i just bought a netgear wireless router for my mac book and for the life of me i cant set it up. i have called my isp, apple tech support, and of all numbers given to me, i have yet to get through to the netgear tech support line. every time i call i am on hold for hours at a time and dont have the patience to sit on the phone that long. Somebody please help me to set up this thing. for the most part i am pretty good with this hardware stuff, so i am not completely helpless.

Have you loaded the Netgear disk?

Michael asks…

Dell Inspirion 1521, Netgear Router WPN824, and Windows Vista?

I recently purchased a Dell computer and wanted to hook it up to the wireless network that we already have setup at home. When I tried to do so with the network connection wizard, it would not connect. I tried a couple of other things before calling Dell Support. After over 1 and 1/2 hours on the phone, my call was disconnected and I still cannot get online. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get connected to my wireless network?

netgear answers:

You just need to turn on the wireless on the laptop and search for wireless networks from the wireless icon on the taskbar by right clicking it and select view wireless networks, once that is open click on search for available networks and connect to your network once it has searched

Daniel asks…

Please help with Netgear N750?

I bought the Netgear N750 (against the advice of friends and colleagues) a couple of weeks ago and now, after a few phone calls to tech support, I am about to throw it out the window. My issue is this: connection. The dang thing will not stay connected to the internet. It drops the connection about every five to ten minutes and this happens to both wired and wireless devices.

As I stated, I tried to call tech support but all they do is keep trying to get me to buy extra services (no kidding, the guy said he fixed it then tried to charge me for the service even though NOTHING had been done). I have done mass amounts of research and I cannot find a solid solution for this problem. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

netgear answers:

There is a couple of things you can do.

1) Assuming you're on a Windows OS, do the following

Start > Run > Enter "CMD" in here > Select OK.
In the command prompt window enter "Ping 127.0.0.1". Doing this you should get "Pinging 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data" and it should provide you with 4 lines stating "Reply from 127.0.0.1" if any of these drop out then you have a faulty Network Card.

2) Download the latest device drives for your Network card.

George asks…

How come our iPhone and iPod Touch would not connect online using Netgear WPN824, even though it is recognized?

Everyone who has an apple iphone or ipod touch in our house has had no connection online for more than a month or two already using this router, eventhough the devices recognize the router's wireless network and its wep password.
It's been for so long now , but lately I did the whole setup once again. I reconnected the router to the modem and to the computer's ethernet cables as the procedure insisted me to do. When it recognized that our internet connection having a dynamic IP address in the configuration page, I let the smart wizard do the basic settings and then I created the wireless network name and its wep password.

The wireless router connects all of the laptops and some smart phones in our house except the iPhone and an ipod touch that we have. I've tried to look up on the router's cd manual and even on netgear's support website, but still nothing has worked up our problem.

Can anyone please help us about this wifi issue?

netgear answers:

I had a similar problem that i had wep enabled worked on my laptop but not the ipod...so i though to myself lets just change the wep to wpa??? Voila! And then my ipod work now remember wpa is alot safe then wep does.
