Q. Is it possible to use my LinkSys router as a wireless network adapter for my Xbox 360. If I can I would like step-by-step instructions if possible.
A. You can do that so long as the router you use is compatible with dd-wrt firmware. Not all Linksys routers are. The WRT-54G is a good cheap one to use. It's fairly easy to do. Just flash your router with dd-wrt firmware and enable the wireless bridge mode. There are plenty of step by step tutorials online.
How to set up linksys router for playing xbox online?
Q. I have a linksys wrt54g2 and every 4 or so hours I lose connection to the Internet. Then the Internet doesn't work unless I unplug the router and plug it back in. I have gotten tired of unplugging the router. I have unplugged the router and just left the modem in and it worked fine so it's not the ISP.
A. flash the firmware to the router ... see if that's the problem... or maybe you just have a shoddy router.
Can I use a Linksys router as a wireless adapter to connect to my existing wireless network?
Q. I have an existing wireless network, My computer, and Xbox 360 were running off it. Every xbox wireless adapter I purchase has broken. I have an extra linksys router and am curious if I can configure it to act as an adapter on my existing network.
A. Along with the information that Dave provided this may also be useful. Check out modifying the firmware of the linksys router. If it's a WRT54G (and other models) there's an open source software package available that'll change the software on the router to give you better control of the bridge. I do warn you, however, that this *could* "brick" (make it useless, like a brick/paperweight) your router if you do it incorrectly. You could have this up and running within a half an hour or so depending on your skill level if you're willing to try it. I've used it quite a few times (7-8) without any problems.

How do I know which firmware to download for my Linksys Router?
Q. Ok, I have a WRT54G wireless router. My internet shuts off and goes to local only every two months or so and I think I need an firmware upgrade. On the site how do I know which version to download? And there's no where on my router that says the version number. Please help?!
A. Actually if you can go two months without a reboot of the router, you are in good shape. Many need weekly reboots! Routers are computers sometimes they need everything rebooted to reset the system.
You can log in to the routers management area http://192.168.1.1 and check the Firmware revision. The router VERSION number (if it has one) will be on the label on the unit as well as on the "Admin" page of the routers web server.
