Q. I have a linksys router. When I got it, I set a user name and password to access the wireless configuration and security and I have no idea what it is anymore. I just got a new computer and I need the WEP key to connect to my router. Does anyone know how I can reset the router back to the default Admin user name, or how I can recover my user name?
A. There should be a small hole on the back that says "Reset"
Press it for 10 seconds, then it will reset the login and password to the default values(along with everything else)

A. you don't need a cd... just plug your computer into one of the 4 LAN ports on the linksys, and connect the DSL/Cable Modem into the WAN port.
open a browser window on your computer and type: 192.168.1.1 into the address bar... the password window will come on your screen... the default password is 'ADMIN' and leave the login window empty.
you may want to hold the reset button in for 20 seconds before trying the above steps... that way, all the settings go back to factory defaults and you will have full access to the router.

Why does my laptop automatically disconnect from my linksys router frequently?
Q. It disconnects to my linksys frequently, which I have just set-up recently.
I have to reconnect each time. It is very irritating and happens atleast 3 times a day while I am using the internet.
I tried repairing the "repairing the connection"option but it hasn't helped.
What should I do to fix this problem?
Please help me. Thank you.

A. Linksys router Set Connect on Demand by default.
You need to keep the connection alive all the time by going to the admin page and change some settings
1. Go to your admin page. By default, type 192.168.1.1 in your browser.
2. login with userid and password.
3. Under Setup TAB->Basic Setup->Checked the radio button "Keep Alive: Redial period"
It should solve your problem.

If there is a place using a WI-Fi can i use linksys to connect with the internet? What will i have to pay?
Q. I am moving to an RV park that has WI-Fi & they charge for that if you use it.But i want to know if i can use my Linksys to connect to the internet by bouncing off their WI-FI? Is this also legal?
A. No, to uplink your linksys to thier router you still need the WEP key or login info... so no value in it. You might as well connect directly.
