Netgear Faq: Netgear Nas

Paul asks…

Netgear NAS drive help needed?

Netgear ReadyNAS 1100 - has 4 bays but only 1 drive in it - linked to my computer via USB port and to my router...but my compuiter not seeing it ??? so my question is...What am i doing wrong ?

netgear answers:

It sounds as though you are out of your depth - you only need an ethernet connection to the router not a USB connection
Here is a link to the netgear website it contains links to the install guide, user guide and setup.

I would suggest you download the relevant documents, read the install guide carefully, check the startup lights on the netgear and repost your question if your are still having problems to either netgear support or the netgear readynas community who should be able to offer you better support

Netgear NAS DUO help ?

Hello, I've been searching for a solution for this for the whole day.

Okay so as you know you can access "myshares" via any web browser from any computer in the world with an internet connection. Here's my problem, I can only seem to login to "myshares" with the admin account I set up with the NAS box by default how do I login to my shares with another user account ? Thanks.

netgear answers:

You have to log into the NAS and create other user accounts. Then, give them permission to access the Shares that you want them to have access to.

Netgear NAS 4200 issue?

I bought the above mentioned NAS and chucked in a 1TB HDD in the 1st slot. the HDD contained some data (non important) and it seemed to boot up fine when plugged into the nas and powered on. But i can't seem to access it. Any suggestions? Should i pull out / format the HDD? if i do, to what format (NTFS, FAT, etc) should i format it too?

netgear answers:

Hi its all ways NTFS,

Daniel asks…

Is it possible to make the netgear stora wireless.?

I have a spare wireless router which I want to use. I want to place my nas (netgear stora) upstairs connected via cable to this wireless router and this router then to connect wirelessly to my main wireless router which sits downstairs and is connected to the Internet. I can then connect to the main router and connect to the stora.

Is this possible at all. And if so then are there any tutorials on how to do this.

netgear answers:

I wouldn't recommend a wifi connection to a NAS you would find the throughput throttled by the wifi bandwidth - you would be better investing in a couple of powerline adapters
