Default Router login belongs to different router other than mines?

Q. I tried default IP 192.168.1.1 to login to my router but at username/password screen another router model # ( WGR614v6 ) is there. I have logged in before and this is the first time thats happened

A. its probably another linksys router

a neighbor must have installed one

i would advise connecting to the router (directly - with a CAT-5 cable)

and.. just for good measure, turn off your wireless (to ensure you're *only* talking over-the-wire)

THEN try to login - i would say make your network 192.168.10.x (just do whatever it takes to deconflict it from your neighbor's)

How to change your local ip address on linksys basic setup.?
Q. Hey, the default Local IP address for Linksys is 192.168.1.1 a tutorial told me to change it to 192.168.1.4 and now, my Linksys wireless-G router doesn't work. I'm currently on another router around my town that wont stay for a long time.

A. By visiting the Internet network settings and editing 'em...

Good luck!

How can I access my router settings without entering username and password?
Q. I'm making a Minecraft server, and to do the IP, I need to access Router Settings. But my parents won't tell me the username and password, so I need another way to access it.

Router:
Linksys, WRT160N

Default Gateway:
192.168.1.1

IP: 192.168.1.50(static)

External IP:
203.208.99.105

A. You can reset the router by holding the reset button for 30 seconds. This will wipe out every password BUT your parents will whoop your a*ss so do this at your own risk.

OR

Google and find out if your router supports WPS(Wi-Fi Protected Setup) feature. If it does then the password is extremely insecure. You can crack it by using backtrack tool.YouTube it....
This is legal as long as it's yours.

How do I access my router's security settings!?

Q. I typed in the linksys default ip adress for my router so I could change some settings but when I type the ip adress in the adress bar an error page comes up.

A. Follow the instruction below:

Step 1
Open any web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. In the address bar, enter "192.168.0.1" (without the quotes) and press the enter key. This will bring up the login prompt for most wireless routers. If that doesn't work, try "www.routerlogin.net", "192.168.0.5", or "10.1.10.1" until the login window appears.

Step 2
Enter the username "admin" (again, without the quotes), and the password "password" in the appropriate fields, then click OK to login. If that password fails, try "1234," "Password" (with a capital "P"), or "admin" until you are greeted with the settings screen.

Step 3
Make any required changes to the settings. Under security, it is possible to specify a new username and password for added security. Once you are done, close the window, and the system will automatically log you out

What is the Default IP Address for Linksy and D-Link Routers?
Q. Looking for ways to enter my D-link and Linksy routers.

A. Normally it's 192.168.0.1, you type this into your Web browser if you are unsure of how to enter it as well and also if you don't know the password here is a website with default passwords - http://www.routerpasswords.com . If you can't reach it on 192.168.0.1 open Command Prompt in Windows (Command Prompt is in Start/All Programs/Accessories or you can type cmd into run) and type "ipconfig" (without the quotes), the Windows IP Configuration settings will show up. Under the first group of settings (Ehternet adapter Local Area Connection) you will find a line like this: Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : "Your router IP Address"

There you have it, it's after the Default Gateway.

Need to find the IP address of my Linksys router?
Q. Can't remember what I changed the default IP to on my Linksys (its been 2 years) and now I need to get into it. I know IPCONFIG /ALL is supposed to display it but its not displaying the local IP for my router. I know theres another way, just cant think of it right now. Anyone?
its not 192.168.1.1 I changed it years ago and cant remember what I cahnged it to. IPconfig is only giving me the ISP assigned IP not my local IP i know its 192.168.1.(something) but thats not giving me it.

A. Type 192.168.1.1 on your url box and hit enter. You can check your settings and change them as you please.

If you reset a Linksys router will it do anything to the connections its already setup to?
Q. I have a linksys router and i wanted to get internet on my wii. And i forget my password so i want to reset it, but im not sure if it will do anything to the computers that have hooked up to it already. Will it?

A. It will disconnect. Also, all your wireless computers will still be using the old encryption key and won't be able to connect to the router. Also, the router will no longer have your Internet Service Provider's gateway IP address and Domain Name Server IP addresses. You'll have to set them all back up again.

All for a Wii?

Here's how to find the encryption key: If the encryption key isn't on a label on your wireless modem or router, the likeliest place to find it is in your router's admin pages. Exactly where in those pages varies from brand to brand. If you don't have a router, the following should apply to your modem itself.

Basically, to get into the admin pages, do this:

1.On a computer connected to a wired port on your router (wireless access to the admin pages should be turned off as a security risk), enter the router's local IP address in your browser's address window.ON A LINKSYS, THIS IS PROBABLY 192.168.1.1. THE LOGIN IS USUALLY A BLANK USERNAME AND ADMIN AS THE PASSWORD.
2.Poke around, especially under wireless security, until you find the encryption key. Copy it down EXACTLY. Copy-and-pasting it into a text file (Wordpad is generally best because it's on almost all Windows machines) is even better, as it can be copy-and-pasted from there into whatever needs it. When you see it, you'll understand why this is a good idea.

To find your routers IP address in Windows:

3.Click on the Start->Run button.
4.In the text box, type

cmd

and press Enter.

5.A black "DOS box" will pop up. In it, enter

ipconfig /all

A bunch of gibberish will fill the box. Next to "Default Gateway" an IP address will appear. This is your router's IP address.

Hope that helps.

What is the default ip address and the port numbers for XBOX LIVE?

Q. All of sudden i cant connect to xbox live. The error message is statint that it can not find the IP Address. I have a Dell XPS 400 windows xp computer and i am using a linksys wrt 54g router. i called linksys and they said i need the default port numbers and the default ip address. Please help!!

A. 1: go to your modem set up, type in to the web browser your ip to modem look up settings for LAN. make sure your xbox is reset to default so it has fresh bridge to modem. do you have any information on how to ping your modem, do you have pdf file containing it. or something that came with the box usually it's under modem. i always advise people to stick with a isp modem they will always support you, linksys is 3rd party modem. any hows

2: make sure your fire walls down it can cross contaminate incoming pings transmission.

3: you need to set up a ip from the modem that contains the 255.192.1.68 for example this is not real but try to find it once reset. and log in to your modems settings find lan or ports that are listed as ip add or something. most are different some are more technical.

4: once done reset pc and xbox and they should bridge connect if not find better modem, or call your isp and order one!

now linksys modems are not good, the provider to linksys will say anything they have reputation to hold as you are customer.

That comes up and it's not admin admin

A. I also Have a Linksys Router

Use This:

I always Have a online copy of the linksys program just in case I Lose The CD

3.Click on the Start->Run button.
4.In the text box, type

cmd

and press Enter.

5.A black "DOS box" will pop up. In it, enter

ipconfig /all

A bunch of gibberish will fill the box. Next to "Default Gateway" an IP address will appear. This is your router's IP address.

Hope that helps.

I have a linksys router and im trying to setup wirless internet through a motorola surf board modem?
Q. I plugged the modem into the linksys router (internet port) and had another ethernet cord connecting to the linksys to the computer (when doing this the computer plugged in doesnt even have internet). I dont have a setup disk for the router, and the linksys setup wizard from the site doesnt seem to work.

A. This could be a lot of things.
1. Reset your cable modem. Unplug for 10 seconds, then plug back in
2. hold down the little button on the linksys router (even if brand new) for like 30 seconds. It should reset to factory defaults.
3. Plug modem into internet port on router.
4. Plug computer into a free port on the router.
5. Check computer settings to make sure it does not have a static ip address. you can do this by going to network connections, Local Area Connection (which should show as connected or plugged in), then right clicking and selecting properties. Then look for TCP/IP properties, and you should see the area where you can change the IP and DNS settings. Make sure these are all blank.
6. You can open internet explorer and type 192.168.1.1 Just that. nothing else.
7. it will ask you for username and password. username is admin, password either blank , or admin.

that should get you into router setup.

How to reset the linksys wrt54gs to original ip address and login information?
Q. I have a new internet address on my router for the internet and i forgot my stuff for the linksys router/bridge that i am using and now i need to restore it and connect it to my current router wirelessly and get the internet on there as well

A. Push a pin or tip of a paperclip inside the small hole at the back of the router. Hold it for at least 15 secs until the power light comes off and back on. That should reset the router to defaults.
