What IP to put in when port forwarding with Linksys?

Q. Ok, so i'm trying to port forward for a Minecraft server, but it requires an IP, but there can only be 3 numbers. What do I put in for the IP?
My computers IP is like, 11 numbers long but I can only put in 3

A. The IP address for the forward MUST be the address of the machine running the server.

I am trying to start a minecraft sever and need help. How do I port forward?
Q. I have a wrt53gL linksys router. How do I port forward? And what would I use for my I.P. Address?
I've gone to my wireless settings but can't seem to figure out what to do to forward forward a port for minecraft. Any help would be great. Thank you

A.

How to port forward with Linksys WRT54GL?
Q. I watched some youtube videos and forums about port forwarding with Linksys WRTG54GL. I filled out everything correctly. The port i have to forward is 7915. So for External and Internal i used the # 7915. For protocol i used both. Then for the To IP Address, i filled it using the IPv4 Address. And then i clicked enables and save the settings. But when i check the port with various sites, one of them: whatsmyip.org and it says that the port is closed. What did i do wrong? Could someone make a step by step instruction or video for port forwarding with Linksys WRT54GL, or make a video of port forwarding the port 7915 on a Linksys WRT54GL?
Main reason why i need to port forward is for creating a server for a flight simulator. The flight simulator is YSFlight, i wanted to create a server so that other people could use it, my friends could join, and i could make it a private server by locking out the connections from the server that i have control of.
I did run the server for YSFlight, and still, on whatsmyip.org It says that the port is closed!!! >=|
Yes i did allow the port 7915 on my firewall. This is soo fustrating. If i don't find an answer, i might as well repost it over and over again... =|

A. What service or program are you running over port 7915 that you need traffic forwarded to? If you have nothing open using that port on the computer you're forwarding to, then it will show up as "closed" even if you did properly configure port forwarding..

Update:
Make sure that the IP address you're forwarding to stays static. If you have DHCP enabled and have multiple computers, it's possible that it may be forwarding to the wrong IP address.

Try running the CMD command of "netstat -a" to see if your the port really is open from your computers perspective. If it is you should see something like this:

Proto [SPACE] Local Address [SPACE] Foreign Address [SPACE] State
TCP [SPACE] 0.0.0.0:7915 [SPACE] MY-PC:0 [SPACE] LISTENING

If you don't see that, then your port is considered closed.

How can I keep the forwarded ports though my router going to the same computer?
Q. I have a home network. The router has port forwarding, which you set by setting which IP address the ports are forwarded to. But as the computers come and go and are restarted, the router keeps assigning them different addresses, leading to the ports forwarding to different machines all the time, which I'm constantly manually correcting. I've tried setting up the computers with manual IP settings, or using DHCP with a manual IP address, but neither one will work- they only work when configured to use DHCP, and then the addresses keep changing. An old router I had let you reserve an IP address and always assign it to the same MAC address, so the same machine always had a static local IP, but my Linksys Wireless router doesn't appear to offer that. Any idea?

A. Depending on what model Linksys router you have, you can flash it to use a third-party firmware that opens up more options including assigning a static IP to a MAC address (so your computer will always have the same IP).

I don't believe there's a way you can do this with the default Linksys firmware. Again what you want is assigning an IP to a MAC Address which is in the DHCP server settings.
