How do I set up a new password on my Linksys wireless router?
Q. I reset my router (lost password ages ago, but never needed it because it was saved) in order to add new computers to it, and now my connection is unsecured. I need to know how to set up a new secured connection.
A. Go to this address to log into your router: http://192.168.1.1/
- You're going to need your password/username , since you've reset your router I'm guessing you know the password now.
Click on "Wireless" on the navigation bar
After clicking on "Wireless" a submenu should appear with "Wireless Security" in it. Click on wireless security.
I recommend WPA2 as your security mode.
Keep your WPA shared key... you will need it to log onto the router from a computer (it will ask you for the key)

What does a orange light on a linksys wrt600n router mean?
Q. I have a Linksys WRT600N router and it use to have all green lights. Now there's a orange light on the LAN connection lights. It use to be green. And when i try to connect to the internet it won't connect. Nor does it connect on WIFI. It shows it has internet but it doesn't work.
A. With a WRT600N, the color indicates the speed of the connection. It has orange, blue, and green, for 1000BaseT, 100BaseT, and 10BaseT. I'm not sure of the particular colors though. Check the manual for your router on their site.
But since you're having other problems, you might be seeing something else. What I'm going to recommend is you consider resetting your router by pushing in the button on the backside, holding it for 10-30 seconds, then unplugging the router while still holding it in, then waiting another 30 seconds, then turning it back on, holding it for another 30.
Then set it up again.

Why does my internet connection keep dieing and the only way to fix it is to reset my router and modem?
Q. I get wireless internet using a Linksys router connected to my parents computer. About every day like clockwork my connection dies and the only way to fix it is to unplug the router and the modem. We've gone through 3 of these routers and each one has the same problem. What's wrong?
A. In a large majority of cases (particularly Linksys) the firmware needs to be updated. Check the linksysy support site, and compare the available version for your model to what you have installed.
