Netgear Faq: Netgear Support Site

David asks…

Had wlan connection from Wii to Netgear and two weeks later it's won't connect?

I had successfully connected our wii to our wireless Netgear MR314 which is compatible with wii according to the nintendo support site. Now a couple of weeks later our wii won't connect to the same router anymore?

netgear answers:

Clear your internet setting on the Wii that is using your Netgear router for connection.

Remake the connection, click on 'search for access point' and select your SSID (name of your network). If you have a password, enter it and continue with the connection test. If you do not have a password, it is strongly recommended that you make one, as neighbors can steal your connection and drastically slow it down for you.

If you need help figuring out how to set a password on your router, go into your settings. In the URL bar of your internet, type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. You will be asked for a user/password, by default it is user: admin password: 1234

netgear answers:

Have you tried turning the WEP feature off on your router? Try that and see if the problem persists..

Would this wireless card support wow?

My system is good enough to run world of warcraft, but my computer was moved for away from my router, so I need wireless internet. I'm just wondering if this card would run pretty smooth, not perfect, i can deal with middle performance.

If that doesn't work, give me a suggestion. I'm trying to stay around $50 max if possible.

netgear answers:

Yes.
It will be fine.

Here is some information. Let's hope it sinks in. Your internet connection is probably 10mbps cable... Or maybe 5mbps DSL. Wireless B connects to a router at 11mbps. Wireless G connects to a router at 54mbps. This means that this wireless card will connect to your router at more than 5 times your internet speed. That does NOT mean it will speed up your internet connection. That just means that your wireless card will NOT INTERFERE with any speed issues whatsoever, due to the fact that your connection to your router is FAR FASTER than your internet connection.

Chris asks…

How do I disable my Wireless Router's WPS Processes?

Whenever I try and change ANY Wireless settings on my router, it tells me "WPS process is in progress, please apply the changes later." This is EXTREMELY aggravating, seeing as how Netgear's OWN SUPPORT site, says NOTHING on this. And nowhere else, either. I'm trying to change my wireless security from WPA2 to WPA for my wireless devices that aren't compatible with WPA2. I've looked through multiple manuals on my router, and all they ever do is tell me ABOUT WPS. Does ANYONE know how I disable this, for ANY amount of time, so I can change my Wireless from WPA2 to WPA. Or even WEP. Anything but WPA2. I have a Netgear WNR2000v3 Wireless Router.

netgear answers:

Yeah I hate wireless routers too.

Simple. Turn off router and disconnect any devices.
Turn it back on and connect with one device.

Type in the URL box "192.168.1.1" without the quotes of course.

Search around until you find a RESET ROUTER button.
Click reset (shouldn't take too long)

Then when you finish resetting set up the router using the CD that came with it, but DON'T put any password

Once again type in the URL box 192.168.1.1
Go to security and select WPA and you should be good.
