Netgear Faq: Netgear Router Login Page

Daniel asks…

Everytime i try to open the yahoo home page it just opens my NETGEAR DG834G router page, how do it stop it?

Each time i open yahoo.com or yahoo.com.au it always goes to my router(NETGEAR DG834G) login page which is really annoying seeing i use yahoo(duh)so if anyone can help that would be appreciated

netgear answers:

Sounds like you have gotton yahoo.com redirected, check your hosts file and make sure you don't have an entry like:
yahoo.com 192.168.0.1 (or whatever your router uses)

If that is not the case, ask your ISP if they are using a proxy to get to yahoo, if they are, make sure it is not the same as the local IP you have for your router.

Donald asks…

Where is this router login page HELP!!?

Ok so im trying to figure out my WEP key because i forgot it. I have a netgear router and ive tried typing in that 168.192 number everyone suggests and it doesnt work. I have also gone to routerlogin.com and .net and both send me to the netgear site and i have no clue where to login. I also went to that ipconfig thing and the number started lie 72.768. something so someone help me

netgear answers:

If IPCONFIG tells you that your IP address is 72.x.x.x then you are not connected through your router but are connected directly to the internet.

Post the exact IP address that it shows and maybe someone can help. 72.768.x.x is impossible; none of the numbers can be greater than 255.

Also post the exact IP address you're trying to hit with your browser. 168.192.x.x would not be correct either as it's not a private IP address.

William asks…

I get a 404 error when I try to login to my Netgear MR814 router's configuration page(http://192.168.0.1).

The router is connected, via its Internet port, to the cable modem, and the computer is connected, via an auxiliary Ethernet card and an additional CAT5 cable, to one of the non-Internet ports on the router; if it matters, port 2. My computer's wireless card detects many wireless networks in the area, but not mine. My Nintendo Wii produces similar results when conducting a wireless network search.

When running IPconfig, the Default Gateway field is blank. When attempting to ping 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, I get the error message " Destination Host Unreachable four times in a row. Both the Internet light, indicating the router is connected to the Internet via the modem, and the icon above the port the computer is plugged into on the router, indicating the computer is connected to the router, light up and flicker as the instruction manual states they should when a working connection is achieved.

Charles asks…

How to get my Netgear router to talk to me?

I have a Netgear WGR614 v5. Was working fine until I tried to update the firmware to 1.07, after which I couldn't log into the router. Can't even get the login page, can't talk to it at all. So. Hard reset to factory settings, restarted everything in the correct order and still can't get to the login. WinXp Pro, IE7. Access to internet with just the cable modem is fine, with the same cables and from the same ethernet port. Ideas? Thanks.....

netgear answers:

Sounds like a bad firmware upgrade. You may be out of luck. Contact Netgear tech support.
