netgear answers:

All you need is a WiFi router with a Ethernet crossover connection to your Broadband cable modem.

And a wireless Ethernet adapter for your computer.

Charles asks…

How do I change my wireless internet password from Time Warner?

I do not want to change my email password but I want to change the password for my internet connection. I don't know if I'm supposed to go to www.roadrunner.com. How do I change it?

netgear answers:

To change the default password complete the following steps:
1. On the SBG1000 Setup Program screen, click the Admin button to display the ADMIN — basic page.
2. Type the old password in the Old Password field. Note: The default password, in lowercase, is “motorola”.
3. Type the new password in the New Password field.
4. Type the new password again in the Verify Password field.
5. Click the Apply button to apply the changes.
Note: To prevent unauthorized configuration, change the default password immediately when the Motorola SBG1000 Wireless Cable Modem Gateway is first configured.

Michael asks…

does timewarner sell you a wireless router.Do we have to call time warner cable to activate a router?

does timewarner sell you a wireless router or do you have to go out and buy one. Also do we have to call time warner cable to activate a router and do they charge you for it.

netgear answers:

I am sure that timewarner will sell you a router, most of the larger cable providers do. You are better off just going to best buy and picking up a wireless router for $50 and plugging it into your cable modem. You will not have to call your provider in order to activate your router.

George asks…

I have time warner and I can't connect to XBOX LIVE!?

At first we had the time warner "Touchstone Telephony Modem" and we could use the internet and xbox live but not at the same time.

Then we got the time warner wireless router so we could us the internet and i could play xbox live.
Then are computer got messed up and we sent it to get fixed. When we got it back and the wireless router didn't work, so we called time warner they said their computer said it worked, but it didn't.So we tried the router by itself and it worked, but when I tried to play xbox live it didn't work.
I think it is something with my ip address, because i went to a website and it told me mp ip address and where i was located and it was far away from my house.I need help.

How do i get my router working or at least play xbox live from my modem.
it passes the first part but fails at the next

netgear answers:

If you go online and have a website locate your IP, it won't always find your particular computer... For example, at my old job, the company we got internet through was based in Phoenix, and we were 120 miles north in Flagstaff... Yet those IP-detecting websites always said I was in Phoenix. So it has nothing to do with your IP.

When you test your network settings on your 360, what happens? Try this, then provide additional details, because the details you've provided are unfortunately not enough to answer your question. Your router could need additional configuration if your NAT is closed, or your internet connection might not be fast enough to accommodate Xbox Live.
