NetGear WG602v4 creating passwords?
I have just bought a NetGear WG602v4 wireless router, and it all works absolutely fine but I have one problem!
I need to put a password (encryption) on it, to block hackers. I have followed the instructions but it doesn't explain how to open the panel to change the default password to a new one.
Does anyone have the solution?
netgear answers:
You use your browser to log into the router.
Open your browser an in the address bar type the IP address for the router and press enter. The format will be 192.168.1.1 that may even be the correct address but check the documentation that came with the router.
The log in box will open, log in and you are then able to navigate the router settings, change password, save it, done.
Your documentation should give you all this information.

IS my NETGEAR WG602v4 compatible with windows 7?
netgear answers:
Routers are stand alone devices, they have no idea what operating system you use nor do they care! So ALL routers are compatible with ANY operating system. There are some older wireless routers that may require either no security or WEP be used for wireless connections but that still leaves the router working with all operating systems.
Yes, your WG602 will work just fine with Win 7.

How do you setup the Netgear wg602v4 Access Point?
I need to setup a wireless access point so that i am able to connect to the internet in my room
i am complete clueless about wat to do. i read the instructions and i still dont understand all that tcp/ip stuff. can anyone help??
i have a netgear wireless router at home but the signal is not strong enough and it doesnt go into any of the rooms. the router is in the living room and thats the only telephone plug we have.
thats why i bought an access point to extend the signals
netgear answers:
Depends what you need it for if you simply want wireless access for a PC there are far easier ways than using than using this wireless access point - please post back with more details. I had a look at the quick setup guide and I can imagine a beginner would be put off. You may be better getting a knowledgeable friend to set it up for you

Netgear networking troubles... Can you help me?
my goal is to connect an xbox 360 console with wireless connection using a netgear wg602v4 wireless access point. Truth be told I am a little confused on how to configure the ap so that it does what i intend for it to do. I have an existing home network set up consisting of a cable modem, and wireless router wired to my downstairs pc, and now I want the wg602v4 to be located upstairs and receive signal from my existing wireless router which is also Netgear and similar in design. Is this possible? If so how to i configure the wg602v4 using the default user interface? Step by step would be appreciated.
netgear answers:
A wireless "access point" is designed to plug into the existing network by cable, then provide a wireless signal elsewhere in the house (or office). They are NOT intended to receive a wireless signal from another router (at least most are not)...
If both the existing router and the access point support WDS, you "may" be able to create a wireless bridge....
