James asks…

Is a Netgear 3G broadband wireless router compatible with cable broadband?

I bought a Netgear 3G broadband wireless router (model: MBR624GU) last year because it was the only one that I could find that was able to work with my usb mobile broadband. If i change to a cable broadband plan, will I still be able to use this router to make a wireless connection?

netgear answers:

No Sorry, your router is only built to accept a 3G usb connection and has no WAN port to connect to a Cable Broadband modem....

Joseph asks…

I'm wanting the drivers for my Netgear Wireless Router any help Please?

I have a Netgear 3G Broadband Wireless Router MBR624GU

And i'm needing the drivers for it but not sure where i can download them for free.

I live in australia not sure if that makes a difference with downloading!

Any help would be great thanks.

netgear answers:

You don't need drivers or any kind of software for this. To configure it, you must first be connected to it in some way (either ethernet cable or the generic wifi name "netgear") and go into the config page. For most Netgear products, the web page is http://routerlogin.com, but you may have to type in it's IP in the browser bar, which you can find when you double-click the network adapter that you're using to connect to the router (either your wifi adapter or LAN adapter). Once in the config page, you can change the router's name, change the wifi name, add a wifi password, and do all kinds of other things. If you find a website claiming they have drivers or software for it, it's fake and you will get a virus!

Steven asks…

Wireless internet network issues connecting to laptops?

I have a Netgear Wireless Network Model MBR624GU, which uses my USB Modem for bipgond internet,
I can use the wireless for my laptop and multiple iphones and my xbox 360 via cable and it works good, but it has trouble connecting to two or more laptops, somtimes it just says limited connectivity for the second computer i connect, but sometimes they can connect together.

Any ideas?

netgear answers:

I should not be an issue with bandwidth as you are unable to connect to the access point(your router) what it could be if you have many devices is that the DHCP pool is not large enough on your router.

Check out this link http://www.2000trainers.com/security/wireless-dhcp/ to read more on Dhcp. Then log in to your router find something similar to network settings, in there there should be somthing similar to DHCP range or DHCP pool if this is low increase this to atleast the amount of devices you are connecting to your router. So if the range is 100 - 105 increase it to 100 - 1XX(number of network devices) that is including devices connected with a cable.

Also try to decrease the DHCP lease time, this should be on the same page as well, a setting like 180 minutes shoud suffice.
