Netgear RP614 - Xbox 360 Dedicated Router?

I purchased a Netgear RP614 just for my Xbox 360.
When I connect it, it says there's a DNS error..
How do I set up the DNS, when i'm only connecting my 360 to this router?

hi

im looking for a router which i can use for my 360, and i have already spent enough time looking for a non-wireless one that works.
'Netgear RP614 Web Safe Router Router EN, Fast EN'
apparantly, this one is compatible with xbox 360, and its is meant to be very easy to use

my question is: how easy.

1. is it just a case of literally plug and play (i connect it 2 my 360 and enjoy!)?
2. would i have to configure it on my conputer first and THEN plug and play.
3. if i have 2 configure it, will i have to have it connected to my computer and my 360, or can i have it for use with my xbox alone. (i dont want it for my computer)

i cant really spend much more, becasue my parents are only willing 2 spend a little, and im broke after all the games i bought with it :(

please help me

I haven't had any dealings with these specific routers, but on all netgear routers that I have dealt with, they initially have to be configured on a computer. Netgear does provide a simple setup wizard which can guide you through all the steps, which can be used once logged into the router's configuration page. Once its configured, the settings will be saved, so it can be unplugged and attached to your 360 if you only want it on that.

I need to install it and I don't have the CD and I don't know where to find it online for download and I don't have the manual either.

To access the Setup Wizard installation and configuration program on your router:

1. Connect your router to a computer by plugging one end of an Ethernet Cable into any of the four LAN ports on the back of your router.
2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
3. To install your router, simply click on the "Setup Wizard" link at the top of the left-hand navigation menu once you are logged into your router.

Simple get out the little yellow phamplet and read it.
First unplug the Netgear and wait 1 min then plug it back in to your ISP's Modem and then start all over.
