Netgear Faq: Netgear Wgr614v10

James asks…

How to Setup a Netgear WGR614V10 As an access point?

A wireless b,g,n router, wanting to make it a wireless access point, i have cox cable, with a cable modem.

netgear answers:

I think you mean that you just want to use it as a wireless router. If that is correct, most routers are setup right out of the box or can be setup just by reading a few simple directions.

However if you really do want to use it as an access point then all you have to do is turn the dhcp server off within the router and connect it to your other router/dhcp server.

More information is required for me to give a better more through answer.

Richard asks…

How to share files between two computers running Win 7 and are connected to a Netgear WGR614v10 Router?

I tried putting IP of one PC into other but it pop user name and password which i don't know?
Remote desktop too wasn't helpful..

netgear answers:

Probably you dont have Active Directory installed , the only way I know create two same users in both computers , then go to the folder you would like to share , right click and click share . When you share give it a proper permissions to the user (read-write-execute) , thats up to you. Also you could right click and go to the security and give it permissions if it does not work

I just remember also you go and open
Control PanelNetwork and InternetNetwork and Sharing Center enable file sharing

Charles asks…

I have a Netgear Wireless Router WGR614v10 and Im really sure everything is set up right but my computer?

doesn't detect it or something. Everything is setup right and I did the disc I just want it so I can get Xbox live. Im not really smart when it comes to this kind of stuff so I need a lot of help thanks if you can.

netgear answers:

My interest is... Does your Xbox connect to your router and the Internet? If not, then the router probably isn't set up correctly or, your xbox and computer are not set up with how you set your router up. It would help to provide you a better answer if you indicate whether or not your Xbox connects to the Internet, if your computer is wireless or wired, and when you setup your router with the disc, did you select any security? Or encryption? Or a password?
