How do I get the wired connection from my linksys router to my computer to work?
Q. I have a Linksys WRT54G that I have directly connected to my Dell running XP SP2. The problem is that I dont know how to set up the connection so that it works off that wired connection. I have tried going through the connect to menu but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?
I am currently using a wireless connection to it, its the wired one that my computer will not read.

A. You don't say if you have tried a wireless connection - but I assume you have no connectivity.

- In the interface- protocols - tcpip configuration, make sure your PC is configured for Dynamic IP addressing - not a fixed IP address

If you are seeing an interface status of connected-local (or similar) the router is not seeing the ISP network.
- Log into the router and configure it to clone the mac address of your PC - that should overcome any issues with your ISP. If you don't have access to the router config - then you will need to contact your ISP to correct the problem.

How can i access my linksys router with while useing a Verizon modem?
Q. Im trying to access my Linksys Router by 192.168.1.1 but it's just bringing me to my Verizon modems. Does anyone have any experience with this?

A. Try this link for default IP addresses and login info for a huge list of home networking products:

Hope it helps.

How do I get my IPod touch to connect to my Linksys wireless-n broadband router without dropping the security?
Q. My IPod touch will only connect to the internet through my Linksys wireless-N broadband router if I remove all security when I set up the router, something I would prefer not to do. It will not connect if the security settings are WPA / WPA2 or WEP128. It says "cannot join network" even though I enter the Network Name SSID and the password. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A. The iPod touch should be able to connect using WPA or WPA2 with PSK (pre-shared key) but you are going to have issues if you are trying to connect with WEP because the iPod will try Shared WEP first then failover to OPEN WEP, but by then you will already be failing authentication on the router.

Make sure that you are close to the wireless router when you try to connect and enter in the password a few times.

If you are still having no luck with WPA/WPA2-PSK, you can add a MAC filter to your router, you'll have to add the MAC address of the iPod touch and all the computers that you want to connect to the Internet. It won't stop people from sniffing your traffic or keep hackers off your network, but it would keep normal people from connecting.
