Netgear and Belkin are two of the most awful words in networking. Go with a Cisco or Linksys (owned by cisco) router.

Computer Randomly disconnects from router using a wired connection.?
I have a netgear wndr3700 router. My computer is hooked up directly to the router using my Ethernet ports. My problem is that around every hour and 30 min. ( or sometimes more) my computer disconnects from the internet. When this happens, my pc notifies me that its network access is Local Only. This only occurs for about 25-30 mins.(sometimes less) and then reconnects to the internet. I think my router is working fine because the devices (like my xbox, ipod, etc.) connected wirelessly to it do not lose internet access when this event happens. I tried using another port on my router, but that didn't work. What do you think could be causing the problem? Any help is appreciated! THANKS. :)

I have seen issues similar to this myself. I would be willing to be that you use an integrated NIC (Network Interface Card). In layman terms: The network connector that is built into your motherboard. These can work their way loose from the motherboard over time. Others simply are not very reliable. Lets hope that this is not the case.
The easiest and cheapest next step would by to try another Ethernet cable. It is possible the cable has developed a physical problem. You most likely have a spare around the house some where that you could use for testing purposes.
You took the correct step by moving your wire to another port on your router. My next suggestion would be to update your NIC driver. This can be done by downloading the latest driver from the manufacturer of your computer. If you built your own PC, or if was custom built by someone else, you can go to the manufacturer of the motherboard and download the latest NIC driver there.
The last two possibilities are not what you will like to hear: Hardware failure.
It is possible that your NIC is faulty. In that case, it will require you to purchase another NIC. They can be purchased from Newegg.com for cheap, and are very easy to install. Here would be my suggestion for replacement: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833314101
The other Hardware failure possability is on the router side. It is possible the NIC ports on the router are faulty. To test this, try taking another device and connecting it to the router using the same cable. If you get problems with that device, you have most likely found your culprit.
I will be hoping that it is simply a bad cable!! :)

Dual-band routers: Can you connect to 2.4 and 5 ghz frequencies at the same time?
I recently upgraded my router and wireless adapters to dual-band Wireless N equipment. Is it possible to connect to the router through both frequencies(24. and 5 ghz) simultaneously for improved performance? I'm using windows 7 and a Netgear WNDR3700 router and Netgear WNDA3100 adapters. Thanks.
netgear answers:
That is possible, but if your router is configured to use both frequencies, it will not improve your performance. It actually slows down the performance, because it has to send out different frequencies. If you have it set to just use one frequency, it will be faster. But if you want to use both frequencies, go into the router's wireless settings. Where it says Frequency or Mode, select Mixed. Remember, though, that on a Wireless N router, only 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n are compatible. 802.11a will not work with a Wireless N router.
