Netgear Faq: Netgear Router Setup Website

Mark asks…

Netgear router prevents me from connection to some websites!?

I have a new website that was setup last week with a domain and hosting. However, i wasn't able to connect to site. Friends were able to do that from their ISPs and laptops. So then I noticed that when i connect directly through the modem i can connect to the site, when i do it through the Netgear WGR614 v7 (which till now has been working perfectly) i can't connect to my new site. Why is that? what i have to do to unblock the setting of the router? Thanks,

netgear answers:

Go into your routers settings page. Just type the ip address in your browser. I'm not sure of the netgear ip but it either http://192.168.0.1 , http://192.168.1.1 , or http://192.168.2.1

Then find a setting to place yourself outside of the firewall. Your isp could be restricting you so also try using the clone ip on your router. It will use the same ip as your computer so the isp won't know the difference. Some isp's lock it on one mac address.

Donald asks…

I have a netgear WGR614v6 wireless router, how can I change the NAT setting to open so my xbox get online?

I recently changed out my wireless router for a Netgear WGR614v6. Since the change, some of my xbox 360 games no longer work for online play. I am getting a message on the x-box diagnostics about the NAT setting (needs to be "open" instead of "moderate"). I remember doing this on my old wireless router, but I cant find it in the setup utility that came with the netgear, nor can I find the answer on Netgears website. Any Netgear pro's out there who can help me?

netgear answers:

Probably type in your web browser the following:

http://192.168.1.1

It should come up with a login box. You will leave the username blank, and for the password type: admin

Then go to your firewall settings and open the NAT. If you don't get anything when you type in the addres I gave you, try http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.0

If the login that I gave you doesn't work, try admin for the username and nothing in the password field.
