William asks…
Can't connect to Netgear wireless router?
I recently purchased a cheap NetGear(WGR614) wireless router and when i plugged it in and set it all up i was able to connect to it fine through a ether cable but when i tried to connect to it using my laptop i can't connect and i get an error message staying "wireless authentication failed because of timeout." i also tried with out a security password and that didn't seem to work either. i also tried disabling my firewall but that was a no go to. When i contacted the netgear support line all i got was a girl from India who i literally understood 1 word out of every 3 after looking around the netgear site i found out that out of 80 reviews 75 were negative having the same problem understand them as me.
Any who you guys are you last resort of you have any idea's on how i can fix this VERY irritating issue id forever be grateful to you.
Thanks for all the help guys!

I have the exact same problem with a Hp laptop with 802.11B and a netgear MR814v2 router. The only way it connects is to unplug and re-plug the power cord on the router. I am trying to find a solution thru netgear support if I do I'll let you know and please let me know if you find the solution.

I got an ipod touch for Christmas and I am having trouble getting on line at my home with it.?
I have a Netgear N600 router. The ipod asks me for a password when I try to get online. As far as I know I do not have a password. I am never asked for a password from my desktop or my laptop when getting on line. I called apple support and they say it has to be the router. It`s been about 8 months since I hooked up the router, so I don`t remember alot about the setup. Like I said I am never asked for a password for desktop or laptop. I can get online where the internet is free with ipod. Any help will be greatly appeciated. Thank you

I also have an iPod Touch and use a NetGear-24-G (Whatever that means) but anyway to have the internet connected, you need to have wireless internet connection. If it is working where there is internet (like at McDonald's etc) it's because they have wireless internet for their customers to use.
You need to set up your wireless at home so you can use your iPod Touch at home and once the setup is complete, your iPod Touch will connect to your router automatically and then you can use the internet through that.
Try setting it up first. If you need help with the setup, there is always a customer support number on the box for help, or go into an electrical shop and inquire about some help and one of the staff members would surely help you.
Good luck. .

Motorola 2210 will not work with Linksys or Netgear router?
I have tried everything possible, but my new AT&T Motorola 2210 modem works fine with just the DSL line, but not when I try to hook up either my LInksys router or Netgear router. The wireless network shows configured, but the internet connection is not detected. I've have tried tech support for each and no one can figure it out! Should I just return the AT&T modem and try the new 2wire modem/wireless router instead??? THOROUGHLY FRUSTRATED.

Have you cloned your computer's MAC address in either of the routers? The ISP's network has to think it's talking to your computer when it's really talking to your router. Check the routers' Admin pages.
In particular, on my Linksys WRT54G (getting a little long in the tooth), it's on the Setup page, under MAC Address Clone (surprise!).
Also look at the ISP's gateway IP address and the DNS IP addresses in the router to make sure they're right.
Hope that helps
