i need to know how to use a linksys wusb54g wireless adapter (version 4) on my mac. i have read some forums about how it can be done but since im new to the mac world can someone please give me step by step instructions and links to the drivers i need? i tried a couple drivers last night from ralink but no luck. thanks!

But obviously this will only work if you've got a LAN cable plugged in. Good luck, if you get really stuck, may I recommend installing Ubuntu linux instead. People may argue with me over this, but you'll find the Ubuntu guide/wiki is full of ace tutorials to get everything set up nice and easily.

Q. Not wanting to purchase a wireless printer just yet if I can plug it in to my modem.

A. Absolutely not! You don't need a wireless print server, or possibly any print server, in addition to what you already have to connect your printer to your network. Your WRTU54G-TM is a Wireless-G Broadband Router with 2 Phone Ports and 4 network ports built into it (per Linksys' website: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRTU54G-TM where you can also get any drivers and the manual if needed). A basic router is all you would really need to connect computer and printer over a network connection and you have more than that. As long as your printer has a network connection port on it already, or you can add a network port to it, then all you need to do is connect a network cable from it to one of the empty network ports on your WRTU54G-TM and setup your printer with a static IP address or Host Name and configure your computer for the network connection IP address or Host Name and you will be set to go. Since you didn't say what printer make & model you have I don't know what it has for available interfaces. If it doesn't have a network port, or isn't available as an add-on, then you're going to be out of luck unless you get an optional print server (here's a website that lists many different models and interface types: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=387&name=Network-Print-Servers ) that will convert your printer's interface to a network interface. It does not have to be a wireless print server to accomplish this. You can probably get one fairly cheap on the internet if you look around. Your router is also compatible with USB provided you have an adapter per the manual: "USB Adapter (WUSB54G, WUSB11) when you want to enjoy USB connectivity".

If you use the USB version (above) you will save yourself a major headache. But... Go buy this stuff. Plug in your router, turn it on. Then, go to each pc with windows xp and install the wireless adapter driver (normally you will insert the cd FIRST, before you plugin the USB adapter!!!) and then plug in the USB adapter.

Windows will configure the network for you at this point..... If you follow the instructions on the box, you will probably be able to get it set up in less than an hour. Plus, you will save hundreds by not having a technician install it. By the way, you can also save a little more by plugging 1 computer ("hard wired") straight into the USB router, and only buy 1 usb wireless adapter (this will link 2 computers).

Q. I have one and I can't seem to find drivers for it. I can find them for the WUSB54G adapter but not the WUSBF54G adapter. A lot of people seem to have and some have the drivers and some don't. I'm wondering if anyone here knows where to get them. Namely for free as people have been finding them. I just don't want to pay for something that should have come with the package, as it was advertised to work with Vista. Thanks.

A. if you have 32bit vista the xp drivers will work. i have the same adapter unfortuently i just upgraded to 64bit so im screwed

How do I set up a wireless internet connection in Mandriva Linux 2006 with a Linksys wusb54g v4 reciever?

Q. I just recently installed Mandriva Linux and I dont know to much about Linux. I have a Wireless-G broadband router with a wusb54g v4 network adapter connected to the computer with Linux. I cant figure out which driver to use or how to put my own driver in. I downloaded NDisWrapper to install a Windows driver and I burned it to a CD to put in my Linux computer. But i cant even figure out how to view what is on the CD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A. Ahhh Ndiswrapper - It took me almost a month to figure out how to use that when I first delved into the world of Linux.
Okay, there's no point me regurgitating was is readily available on the net - there are hundreds of tutorials on setting up Ndiswrapper within Linux.

Your best bet is, if you can, plug your computer into a LAN port while you set up ndiswrapper so you can still access the net and use repositories because I really don't recommend trying to install ndiswrapper by hand when you've only just started using Linux. To install it in Mandrive while you're on the net, you want to type "urpmi wireless-tools" into the terminal and hit y at any questions. But obviously this will only work if you've got a LAN cable plugged in. Good luck, if you get really stuck, may I recommend installing Ubuntu linux instead. People may argue with me over this, but you'll find the Ubuntu guide/wiki is full of ace tutorials to get everything set up nice and easily.

A. Actually LINKSYS no longer provide the drivers online. Go to http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support and chat with a agent. They will help you in getting the drivers
