A. I do not know if that router will let you slow it down, but you can definitely cut it off temporarily shut the wifi down. You would need to log into your router.

On page 26 read about the TRANSMISSION RATE, WHICH TELLS YOU HOW TO SLOW THE WIRELESS OR WIFI CONNECTION DOWN WITHIN YOUR SOFTWARE.

give your xbox a manual ip address
turn your mtu setting to manual and change it to 1500
save
then go to administration turn off UPnP
save
go to port range forwarding and forward these ports to the ip adress you gave your xbox
88 to 88 both
3074 to 3074 both
save

now unplug your router and modem wait 30 seconds and plug in the modem then router
reset xbox

your nat settings should now be set to open

A. You can't configure a router via WiFi that you can't access.

Connect a PC or laptop via Ethernet to one of the router's LAN ports and follow the instructions in the manual to set it up.

The default IP for your Linksys E2000 router is http://192.168.1.1 Type that in the browser's URL bar. You should get a login screen.

The default username is "admin" and the default password is "admin".

If you don't know the login password you'll have to reset the router to factory default state. The instructions will be in the manual.

If the router is reset to factory default, thus erasing all user modified settings then it will revert to the default passwords. Be sure to change the password of the administrative interface of your router from the factory default for security.

A. The E2000 includes a feature called AP Isolation. If this has been turned on, then it stops wireless clients being able to connect to other clients. It is not clear in the manual pages I have read as to whether this stops wireless clients from connecting to wired clients.

I suggest that you check that this feature has not been enabled, possibly by accident or through a router firmware bug. If it is enabled, disable it. If it is disabled, I would try enabling it, then rebooting the router and then disabling it again.

Q. I own a Cisco Linksys E200 Wireless router. When I first got it, it work great. I had Wi-fi on my PS3, Ipod, laptop. Then, six months or so later my PS3 and Ipod stopped being able to connect. My Ipod says a message "Unable to connect to "wireless"". The Ipod works with any other wi-fi. My PS3 gives the message "An error occured during the communication with the sever. DNS error 80710102"I've tried all that stuff people say to do but none of it works. But my sister recently came home from college with her laptop and it gets wi-fi everywhere in the house. What is the problem here? Thanks!

A. Off the top of my head I'd say you need to check your DHCP client reservation setup. Essentially, you can specify how many IPs (devices) are allowed to access the wireless LAN at once. Check the manual for the E2000 here: http://home.cisco.com/assets/presskit/userguides/e2000_ug.pdf. Read the section on DHCP reservation and see if the IP for your device (one which does not connect) is listed. If it is, there's something else going on and you may need to do some more research. If it's not listed, you can add it manually. I would recommend adding it using the device's MAC address which will allow access by the same device permanently, no matter what other changes are made.

Holler back if this doesn't work and we'll go from there.

A. For the E2000 router:

note on the instructions below: I'm using an assigned manaul IP address for your Xbox of 192.168.1.20. You can use a different address but it will need to be 192.168.1.??. It should be something that is not already in use... you're usually safe to go 1.20 or higher. I am also going on the assumption that the default address of the router was not changed (192.168.1.1).

Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer that connected to your home network. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter... A password screen should come up unless there is no password set. If the default has never been changed, use admin in lower case for both.

On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...

Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...

Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...

1) On the first line in Application box type in XBOX1 or some other name, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 53, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box.

b) Do another entry (XBOX2 perhaps), start = 80, end = 80, protocol = TCP
c) Do another entry (XBOX3 perhaps), start = 88, end = 88, protocol = UDP
d) Do another entry (XBOX4 perhaps), start = 3074, end = 3074, protocol = Both

click Save Settings once done...

2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...

3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...

On your Xbox 360:

1) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox...
a) IP Address: 192.168.1.20
b) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
c) Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
d) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox. Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...

6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...

7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it should connect.

If this does not work, give us any error messages you get.

Help with setting up a LAN connection to router?

Q. Hi, I have a Linksys E2000 router and a computer running Windows 7. I want to run an Ethernet cable from my computer to the LAN Port on the back of the router, but when I do, the computer shows no sign of reaction. Is there anything I have to do on the computer to make this work?

A. First make sure the Access Point (Linksys E2000 router) has 3 wires hooked up to it

1. The Power wire (supports power to console)

2. SKIP THIS STEP IF U DO NOT WANT ANY INTERNET ONLY LAN CONNECTION...................Hook up the wire ur getting internet from, ex) I use AT&T so I have a DSL (High speed phone cable) coming out of the wall that gets split, and one of the split wire is hooked up to my access point, the other is for my phone service

3. The ethernet cable which is connecting ur Linksys router to ur computer/laptop.

Here is what to do on the computer.....

Down at the bottom right there should be a funny looking icon with two computer monitors overlapping each other... they might have a red X on it

1.Right click it
2.then click Connect to a Network
3. On the "Show" drop-down click All
4. Hopefully you've already set up SSID (name of access point) and a Password for the access point... if u haven't done so already ur router's manual should be able to tell u how to set that up.
5. Now if u already set up the access point simply find the SSID and click on it and on the bottom right hand corner it should say connect, click it.
6. Put in the password and click Connect
7.Hopefully it says Successfully Connected. Enjoy!

If u still have a problem contact ur Internet provider and ask if their internet is up and running If they say Yes ... Contact router manufacturers.

give your xbox a manual ip address
turn your mtu setting to manual and change it to 1500
save
then go to administration turn off UPnP
save
go to port range forwarding and forward these ports to the ip adress you gave your xbox
88 to 88 both
3074 to 3074 both
save

now unplug your router and modem wait 30 seconds and plug in the modem then router
reset xbox

your nat settings should now be set to open

A. Did you do any initial configuration on it when you first hooked it up?

Try logging into the router's configuration page via a computer connected to it on ethernet cable; the page should be at 192.168.1.1 from your web browser (or a similar IP; check the manual that came with it to be sure). You should then be prompted for a login; if you've never logged into your router before, the login is probably "admin" and the password "admin", although you'll obviously want to change that ASAP for security reasons.

Once you're at your router's configuration page, set up your network settings, wireless settings, etc. Check all the current settings and fix anything that shouldn't be there; one of those settings might the the cause of your problem.

If you can't log into your router, you'll need to reset it using the reset button on the back and log into it using the default login I just gave you.

If nothing else works, you might need to contact the manufacturer for assistance.

A. The E2000 includes a feature called AP Isolation. If this has been turned on, then it stops wireless clients being able to connect to other clients. It is not clear in the manual pages I have read as to whether this stops wireless clients from connecting to wired clients.

I suggest that you check that this feature has not been enabled, possibly by accident or through a router firmware bug. If it is enabled, disable it. If it is disabled, I would try enabling it, then rebooting the router and then disabling it again.

Q. I own a Cisco Linksys E200 Wireless router. When I first got it, it work great. I had Wi-fi on my PS3, Ipod, laptop. Then, six months or so later my PS3 and Ipod stopped being able to connect. My Ipod says a message "Unable to connect to "wireless"". The Ipod works with any other wi-fi. My PS3 gives the message "An error occured during the communication with the sever. DNS error 80710102"I've tried all that stuff people say to do but none of it works. But my sister recently came home from college with her laptop and it gets wi-fi everywhere in the house. A. Off the top of my head I'd say you need to check your DHCP client reservation setup. Essentially, you can specify how many IPs (devices) are allowed to access the wireless LAN at once. Check the manual for the E2000 here: http://home.cisco.com/assets/presskit/userguides/e2000_ug.pdf. Read the section on DHCP reservation and see if the IP for your device (one which does not connect) is listed. If it is, there's something else going on and you may need to do some more research. If it's not listed, you can add it manually. I would recommend adding it using the device's MAC address which will allow access by the same device permanently, no matter what other changes are made.

Holler back if this doesn't work and we'll go from there.

Here is what to do on the computer.....

Down at the bottom right there should be a funny looking icon with two computer monitors overlapping each other... they might have a red X on it

1.Right click it
2.then click Connect to a Network
3. On the "Show" drop-down click All
4. Hopefully you've already set up SSID (name of access point) and a Password for the access point... if u haven't done so already ur router's manual should be able to tell u how to set that up.
5. Now if u already set up the access point simply find the SSID and click on it and on the bottom right hand corner it should say connect, click it.
6. Put in the password and click Connect
7.Hopefully it says Successfully Connected. Enjoy!

If u still have a problem contact ur Internet provider and ask if their internet is up and running If they say Yes ... Contact router manufacturers.

why cant my wirless devices see my wired devices?

Q. so here is the problem i have a bunch of wired devices on my network that host media to the rest of my devices videos music what have you. and i have wireless devices laptops tablets and other stuff that use these media hubs or did at least all of a sudden all my wireless devices stopped being able to se the wired devices unless i wired them up. now don't go insulting my intelligence with things like check your drivers or make Shure your wireless devises are hooked up right or i will find your grandma and slap her silly. all the desktops with wired connections are running windows 7 and the router is a cisco Linksys E2000 any solutions?

A. The E2000 includes a feature called AP Isolation. If this has been turned on, then it stops wireless clients being able to connect to other clients. It is not clear in the manual pages I have read as to whether this stops wireless clients from connecting to wired clients.

I suggest that you check that this feature has not been enabled, possibly by accident or through a router firmware bug. If it is enabled, disable it. If it is disabled, I would try enabling it, then rebooting the router and then disabling it again.

Router Problem Help Please?

Q. I own a Cisco Linksys E200 Wireless router. When I first got it, it work great. I had Wi-fi on my PS3, Ipod, laptop. Then, six months or so later my PS3 and Ipod stopped being able to connect. My Ipod says a message "Unable to connect to "wireless"". The Ipod works with any other wi-fi. My PS3 gives the message "An error occured during the communication with the sever. DNS error 80710102"I've tried all that stuff people say to do but none of it works. But my sister recently came home from college with her laptop and it gets wi-fi everywhere in the house. What is the problem here? Thanks!

A. Off the top of my head I'd say you need to check your DHCP client reservation setup. Essentially, you can specify how many IPs (devices) are allowed to access the wireless LAN at once. Check the manual for the E2000 here: http://home.cisco.com/assets/presskit/userguides/e2000_ug.pdf. Read the section on DHCP reservation and see if the IP for your device (one which does not connect) is listed. If it is, there's something else going on and you may need to do some more research. If it's not listed, you can add it manually. I would recommend adding it using the device's MAC address which will allow access by the same device permanently, no matter what other changes are made.
