Netgear Faq: Netgear Dg834g Router

Chris asks…

Who do i get my Netgear router DG834g V3 to connect?

Ok, my router connects to my PC, but how the do i t get it to connect to my neighbours? He has an open network and i can't see ANY other routers! What am i doing wrong? Please explin the settings thanks.

netgear answers:

I assume you think you can get free internet by connecting to your neighbor's wifi. Your router is not capable of doing this, but the wifi adapter on the PC would be able to do it if the signal is strong enough. The downer is that it is illegal to do this without permission in most parts of the world.

John asks…

I have had 360 share pro however have now installed a netgear DG834G router & it wont download, why?

I've had share pro 360 for about 6 months and it worked fine until I installed the netgear router. I have internet access perfectly but it just seems to block 360. Which settings do I need to change-those on netgear or zonealarm which I aslo have?

netgear answers:

Some routers have a built in firewall. See if you get to the configuration setting to check. Or read your manual for different settings.

Daniel asks…

Netgear DG834G router and the Wii?

I have netgear router and wii. the first time, the search for an access point worked. But today now, it hasn't. I've connected everything correctly.
The first time I connected it as an access point, it was fine, but now, the wii is unable to search for the netgear router as an access point, why is that?

netgear answers:

Try reconfiguring your router to use wireless channel 1 or 11. This fixed my problems with the Wii connecting to wireless. More Wii wireless help here:

Robert asks…

I have a netgear dg834g router that i can't connect to the internet on my xbox 360?

What should the router's settings be,like eg ip address, subnet mask, gateway, primary dns server, secondary dns server

netgear answers:

Those settings are already fixed in the router so this is not causing your problem.
